“SMARTLIPO” Laser-Assisted Lipolysis (Liposuction)
The newest breakthrough in Liposuction Surgery
For millions of Americans, the battle of the bulge is often a long, hard fight. When diet and exercise fail, liposuction can be an effective alternative for removing localized pockets of excess fat. Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures in America today. Traditional liposuction has been available for years and was used to treat large areas of the body where fat deposits have become prevalent. Recovery from this type of invasive surgery was typically slow, bruising was extensive, results would be less than what was hoped for and patient down time tended to be significant.
Smartlipo LaserBodySculpting (laser assisted lipolysis) is a revolutionary minimally invasive treatment that does something no fitness routine in the world can: permanently destroy fat cells. Smart Lipo uses a precise laser to actually melt the fat while also coagulating tissue resulting in skin tightening. With Smart Lipo patients are able to return to normal activities, such as work, in virtually no time at all – healing is significantly accelerated.”
Smartlipo is ideal for treating fat deposits on the face and body and the ancillary benefit of the laser stimulating collagen production leaves the skin firm which is an amazing and welcomed side effect.
How does the Smartlipo procedure work?
This laser-assisted lipolysis procedure is performed using a one millimeter cannula (or tube) inserted into the skin. A laser fiber inside of the cannula delivers energy directly to fat cells, causing them to rupture and drain away as liquid. The laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate immediately on contact, resulting in less bleeding, swelling and bruising-and a quicker recovery time than conventional liposuction. Simultaneously, tissue around the area coagulates, resulting in overall tighter skin tissue.
Due to the cannula’s small size, Smartlipo is a minimally invasive procedure, and in certain circumstances it can be performed under local anesthesia.
What areas of the body can be treated?
LaserBodySculpting is ideal for the neck, jawline, arms, breast, “bra fat,” abdomen, “love handles,” “saddle bags, “inner and outer thighs and knees. Also, it is ideal for treating small areas of face and areas of loose and flabby skin (floppy skin). For men, Smartlipo can be used very effectively to correct gynecomastia (enlarged breasts).
Does Smartlipo treat cellulite?
The procedure may improve the body’s shape and may improve cellulite to a certain degree.
Who is a good candidate for the SmartLipo procedure?
The best candidates are men and women who are not significantly overweight with troublesome areas that will not respond to diet or exercise. Ideal candidates are in good health, of normal body weight and have realistic expectations for the results.
How does LaserBodySculpting compare to conventional liposuction?
Conventional liposuction is meant to remove greater amounts of fat; recovery is usually slow, bruising is extensive and the results maybe less then one hoped for. Smartlipo permanently destroys fat cells by melting the fat while instantly coagulating blood vessels which results in less bleeding, swelling and bruising then conventional liposuction and typically a shorter recovery time.
How many treatments will I need?
For most patients, typically only one treatment is required. The session may last from 45 minutes to one hour for each area treated. And results can be seen as soon as a week with continued improvement over 3-6 months.
Do I have to do anything post-treatment?
After the treatment you will need to wear a compression garment for several weeks, depending on the body area being treated. Rest is recommended after the procedure and activity may be resumed gradually. Refrain from hot tubs or strenuous exercise for 2 weeks. Some light trauma can occur, but you’ll be able to return to work in a couple of days and resume exercise after 2 weeks.
Does SmartLipo provide lasting results?
Yes! Adults do not create new fat cells. When a person gains weight, the fat cells expand. The Smartlipo procedure permanently removes the fat cells. Should you gain weight, most fat will be deposited in areas where the procedure was not performed.
For millions of Americans, the battle of the bulge is often a long, hard fight. When diet and exercise fail, liposuction can be a safe, effective alternative for removing localized pockets of excess fat. Liposuction is now the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in America today. Over 200,000 individuals undergo this procedure each year. While there is some risk involved, liposuction is considered one of the safest procedures in plastic surgery.
